What's the difference between bacteriostatic water and sterile water?
Both are sterile. Bacteriostatic water contains ~0.9% benzyl alcohol, which inhibits bacterial growth so a reconstituted vial can be used over a period (typically weeks, refrigerated). Sterile water has no preservative and is generally intended for single use, since once opened there's nothing stopping microbial growth. See Learn for reconstitution basics.
mg, mcg, and "units" — what's the difference?
1 mg = 1,000 mcg. Confusing the two is a 1,000× error and one of the most dangerous mistakes in this space. "Units" are different again: on a U-100 insulin syringe, 100 units = 1 mL — a unit is a mark of volume on the barrel, not a dose of drug. Our converter exists specifically to keep these straight.
How do I calculate how much to draw?
That's pure arithmetic: concentration = (mg in the vial × 1000) ÷ mL of water, giving mcg/mL; then draw volume = your dose ÷ concentration. The reconstitution calculator does this and converts to syringe units. Note: the calculator does the math on numbers you enter — what dose is appropriate is a medical question for a clinician, not something Peptera advises.
Are peptides legal?
It depends entirely on the compound and your jurisdiction, and it changes over time. Some are FDA-approved prescription drugs (legal with a prescription); some are controlled substances; many are unapproved for human use and may be illegal to obtain or possess. Each Codex profile lists a legal/approval status, but that's general information — check your local law and a professional for your situation.
How should reconstituted peptides be stored?
As a general rule, lyophilised (powder) peptides are stored frozen or refrigerated, and once reconstituted are kept refrigerated and protected from light. Bacteriostatic water extends usable life but doesn't make a solution last indefinitely — respect expiry. Specific storage varies by compound; follow the manufacturer's guidance and a pharmacist/clinician.
What is a Certificate of Analysis (CoA), and can I trust it?
A CoA is a lab document claiming a product's identity and purity. In principle it's useful — but a CoA can be faked, outdated, or belong to a different batch than the vial you received. Treat it as a claim, not proof. Third-party testing is more credible than a seller's own paperwork, but still can't guarantee your specific unit. See Reference for more.
Does "research compound / not for human use" mean it's safe or legal?
No. It's a labelling convention often used to sidestep regulation. The label says nothing about whether a substance is safe, tested, or legal for you to use — and in many cases it's precisely how unapproved drugs are marketed.
Is a "group buy" a good way to save money?
Some are legitimate; many are vehicles for fraud. The combination of an anonymous operator + crypto-only + pay-before-you-receive removes every consumer protection at once. See Safety for the red flags before you send anyone money.
Does Peptera sell peptides or recommend a vendor?
No — and it never will. Peptera has no store, no affiliate links, no sponsors, and does not source, broker, or recommend any product or seller. It exists to inform. If a site is teaching you and selling to you, treat that conflict of interest as a warning.
Does Peptera give dosing protocols?
No. We provide reconstitution/dose math (arithmetic on numbers you enter) and educational profiles, but not "use this much on this schedule" protocols. That's the line between education and instructing self-administration of drugs that require a licensed provider.
I think I was scammed / I'm worried about a reaction. What do I do?
For a medical reaction, contact a clinician or emergency services immediately — don't wait. For fraud, preserve your records and report it (see Resources for links to IC3, the FTC, FDA, and Poison Control). You're a victim of a crime — reporting it is appropriate.
